With the upcoming SALA season set to begin April 18, the Medicine Hat Lacrosse Club is putting out an urgent call for new and returning officials. As the club emphasizes every year, officials are essential to the success of the sport, without them, games simply cannot be played.
Lacrosse continues to grow across the region, and with that growth comes a greater need for trained referees at all age levels. To help encourage more people to step onto the floor in stripes, the Medicine Hat Lacrosse Club is offering a financial incentive program for the 2026 season. The club will reimburse the cost of the officiating clinic and provide a $100 bonus for every 10 games officiated, making it an excellent opportunity for students, parents, and sports-minded community members to earn extra income.
The SALA season officially launches April 18, with mentorship planned for new officials. This early support ensures that first-time referees receive guidance, feedback, and on-floor experience before the season ramps up. Games run until late June, offering a steady schedule of officiating opportunities throughout the spring.
In addition to regular league play, SALA will host two tournaments and a full playoff schedule, giving officials even more chances to gain experience and earn additional cash.
Club representatives say officiating is not only a paid role but also a rewarding way to stay active, build confidence, and support the development of young athletes.
